Faz algum tempo, eu e a Bernardette Amaral começamos uma conversa em comentários aqui no I&V, sobre o romance O Cantor de Tango, do escritor argentino Tomás Eloy Martinez. Eu tinha ótimas recomendações do livro, mas não tinha conseguido encontrá-lo para comprar no pouco tempo que tinha passado em Buenos Aires logo após o cruzeiro pela Patagônia, e não queria ler a versão traduzida. Pois não é que a Bernardette, que é de uma gentileza sem igual, buscou o livro para mim quando voltou a Bs.As. e me trouxe de presente? 😉 Li o romance com o maior carinho e ele correspondeu totalmente às minhas expectativas.
Passado mais algum tempo, em 2013, quando a Camila Navarro bolou o Projeto 198 Livros (que eu expliquei aqui no I&V também na página A VAM dos Livros) e a Argentina foi sorteada, me lembrei do romance imediatamente. As meninas toparam a sugestão, e O Cantor de Tango se tornou oficialmente o livro da Argentina no projeto. O romance se passa quase em sua totalidade em Buenos Aires e um dos cenários mais marcantes é o pequeno bairro residencial de ruas concêntricas, o Parque Chas, onde dizem ser impossível a um estranho não se perder. Devo dizer que não fui a única a ficar curiosa – em nossas conversas sobre o romance, o tal bairro e sua atmosfera misteriosa sempre vinha à baila…
O Parque Chas e suas ruas circulares
Demorei mais de 2 anos para retornar a Buenos Aires depois dessa leitura, mas o Parque Chas ainda ocupava o topo da minha lista de prioridades na cidade. Fomos até lá uma tarde durante a semana, e foi um passeio agradabilíssimo. Tomamos a linha B do metrô até a Estação Los Incas – Parque Chas, um trajeto de cerca de 20 minutos a partir do centro.

Uma curta caminhada, não mais que 5 minutos, nos leva até uma das entradas do bairro, o ponto de encontro entre a Calle Cádiz e a Avenida de Los Incas. Seguimos pela Cádiz e depois pela Gandara, até chegar a uma pracinha.

Não chegamos a nos perder no bairro, o que foi até um pouquinho frustrante… Acredito que de carro seja mais fácil perder o rumo, mas a pé não tivemos nenhuma dificuldade de localização. Seguimos ao longo de uma das ruas em toda a sua extensão, para ter aquela sensação gostosa de retornar ao ponto de partida.

O saldo da experiência foi bem interessante – visitamos um bairro que seria absolutamente comum não fosse pela forma como suas ruas são dispostas. Pelas ruas não vimos nenhum outro turista, apenas famílias saindo de casa em seus carros, mães levando crianças para brincar nas pracinhas, amigos tomando cerveja em barzinhos… Mas na minha imaginação eu estava imersa no cenário de Tomás Eloy Martinez, e isso fez toda a diferença… 😉
