A Bolívia foi uma grande surpresa para mim no quesito alimentação. Por mero desconhecimento e um pouco de preconceito (assumo, né, fazer o quê…) eu não contava que a comida me agradasse muito – esperava temperos carregados e sabores “exóticos” no mau sentido… 😉
Pois bem, dou a mão à palmatória e a cara a tapa… 😆 A culinária boliviana me conquistou de imediato. É uma cozinha delicada, com base em uma enorme variedade de frutas, legumes, verduras e grãos – só de batatas eles produzem mais de 200 tipos diferentes!!! (Fiquei pensando nas nossas “batatas” – e similares – e não consegui sair do básico: batata inglesa, batata doce, batata baroa, aipim, inhame… Alguém sabe de outras mais? Será que temos tão pouca variedade assim?!? 😛 )
Mas é verdade que a minha amostragem foi bastante limitada… Passamos poucos dias no país, fizemos nossas refeições em bons restaurantes, evitamos comer na rua. Embora haja por toda La Paz uma quantidade imensa de barraquinhas vendendo empanadas e salteñas, e o cheirinho fosse delicioso, não confiei o suficiente na higiene para provar esses petiscos na rua, não…
Provei depois as empanadas bolivianas em uma lanchonete da Peatonal próxima à Plaza Murillo – e achei deliciosas! São completamente diferentes das argentinas e das chilenas: a massa é um pouco mais seca, mais crocante, e o formato mais arredondado; regulam em tamanho com as argentinas, e são menores que as chilenas; normalmente são assadas, como na Argentina, enquanto no Chile costuma-se fazer bastante a empanada frita; e o sabor mais comum é o queijo, enquanto na Argentina a empanada mais típica é a de carne. Enfim, acho que isso basta para dar início ao Tratado Portilho sobre as Empanadas… 😆
Os preços em geral também são bastante convidativos. Aqui vão alguns exemplos, em bolivianos (para converter rapidamente para real, basta dividir por 4):

Impressionante como é barato…eu só tive a oportunidade de uma refeição, que foi no Utama, mas não me lembrava muito dos preços.
